OverView

Before Dawn is a large-scale 6-player strategic and deduction board game inspired by World War II. Each player represents an intelligence officer from one of six nations (UK, US, Germany, USSR, China, Japan). The game unfolds across five escalating phases: Intelligence Outpost → Urban Combat Drill → Naval Drill → Deception Warfare → World Showdown. Players manage resources, territories, true/false intelligence, and military strategies in a layered contest of wit and power.

  • Independently planned rules and world-building, designing 4 standalone subsystems + 1 integrated grand system.

  • Wrote narrative backstories and multi-phase scripts.

  • Built skills system and balanced numerical parameters.

  • Produced item cards and physical prototypes.

  • Organized playtests to refine rules and balance narrative immersion with strategic depth.
